Official Charity Partner

We are very proud to have the Leitrim Animal Welfare centre as our official charity partner. Dogs are wonderful companions for walks and some even love joining in on a leisurely cycle.

Leitrim Animal Welfare was established in 1997 by Christine Coulson and has developed into one of the largest rescue centres in Ireland, housing up to 100 dogs at any one time at their Drumkeerin base in North Co. Leitrim. In January 2004, LAW also took over the operation of the Dog Pound for Co. Leitrim after a successful six month trial period.

Phenomenally successful in re-homing stray dogs, with more than 95% of dogs arriving at the shelter successfully re-homed, Leitrim Animal Welfare operates a “no kill” policy for both its Dog Pound operation and Rescue Centre, meaning all healthy animals stay put until homes are found for them.

The team at the centre know that there are many more dogs in the North West of Ireland that are desperately seeking refuge and the hope of a new and better home. Every dog that comes to LAW will have at least €150 spent on it before it is re-homed. All our cats are also wormed, vaccinated and neutered before rehoming.

The centre needs funds so that they can carry on rescuing and caring for dogs and cats so, on behalf of the dogs & cats, Please donate as much as you can afford through their page or during the festival, or you could donate €5 for a 5kg food delivery from their friends at DogFoodDirect.ie . Simply visit the page and follow the instructions.

Alternatively, offer a home to one of the dogs or if you can help out at the kennels and give the greatest gift of time, they would greatly appreciate it.

In addition to the rescue centre Leitrim Animal Welfare also runs a pet boarding service.

All proceeds from both go to helping animals in need.
